Dig This: Forty-two percent of Black students attend schools that are under-resourced and performing poorly Black boys are three times more likely to be suspended or expelled from school than their white peers Black and Hispanic males make up almost 80 percent of the youth in special education programs Black male students make up 20 percent of all students in the United States classified as mentally retarded, although they are only nine percent of the student population How is it possible that Black and Brown students are facing so much more adversity in the educational system than their counterparts from other ethnic groups?
