The central theme: master v. servant, but no child is born with dreams of one day being an industrialist with slaves.
We all agree that Sterling's phone tapped dialogue was as despicably racist as an antebellum cotton field. The recorded words were reminiscent of the old slave-master's position: on one hand showing great disdain for the Black race, but at the same damn time resting the success of his entire corporation on the shoulders of Black men. All while sharing in a romantic rendezvous (more of an arrangement, but he might have been smashin) with a woman of color (although I'm still not sold on her reported ethnic background). Ironically, a part of me feels sorry for the guy, because his environment fucked him. It was his environment, not his genetic pool, that told him it was okay display hate towards a group of people -- the same people that he would use to obtain tremendous wealth. *master* says It's okay to hate a group of people based on their color, but share in the most intimate of acts with a woman who comes from that same group. But you can't kill the master without crucifying his master. *environment* says That at 80 years of age, undoubtedly the man was reared in a moment of time that was content with seeing ME as a Nigger with limited intellectual capacity, only fit for singing, dancing, and tilling a field. First blame the American forefathers for adopting the institution of slavery to build the from nothing into something. Burn the churches that taught how god ordained Black people to be the exclusive slave servants for the white race. Cut down the family trees, branch by branch, holding generation upon generation of talks by the camp fire and around the kitchen table about how colored people were merely lost animals needing guidance from the White man and training from his whip. Fuck the laws that acknowledged ME as being good enough for only 3/5ths of American citizen. Environment supersedes DNA.
It's obvious that the man was operating in the only way he knew..following the script provided by his environment, and in turn revitalizing the beliefs of his grandfather's grandfather. Unfortunately, the tougher part to swallow is how we are constantly surrounded by this disgracefulness, everywhere and everyday. We encounter bosses, managers, coworkers, classmates, and associates that carry this environmental byproduct with them at all times *concealed* It just so happen that this Clipper skipper got dropped by a THOT. I guess you will learn today sucka.
On another note, am I a product of this environment too? Shit, I think I am.

P.S. His birth name isn't even Sterling, it's Tokowitz. Go Figure. --- BG
